Work will start next week on the beautification of the north shopping precinct in Swan Hill.
This project will see the business area upgraded with new footpaths and paving, planting of additional trees, introduction of new street furniture and bins, additional disabled car parking spaces as well as improved and realigned footpath access points.
Council’s Director Infrastructure Oliver McNulty said the project would bring the north shopping precinct in line with recent upgrades in the CBD and Brown Street in Swan Hill.
“With the major transformation of the centre of the Swan Hill business district now essentially complete, we’ve have the chance to turn our attention to our smaller shopping precincts,” Mr McNulty said.
“These smaller outer business districts are valuable assets to Swan Hill and Council has committed to upgrading these areas to retain and attract new businesses and encourage the community to continue to shop locally.”
Work will start on the southern side of Chapman Street on the Drummond Street corner, moving towards Thurla Street then crossing to the northern side.
The project is expected to be completed by late September, weather permitting.
Council will ensure access to businesses in this area will be available at all times.
